New Gas Prop / Strut / Spring Guide for RV, Boat & Automotive Applications

Premium Gas Springs for Every Application

How to Select the Right Gas Spring

If you’re replacing an existing gas spring:

  1. Remove the existing spring from its mounting brackets
  2. Measure the extended length from center mounting hole to center mounting hole (EL)
  3. Measure the exposed piston length while extended (stroke or S)
  4. Find the closest matching extended length in the product table below, then use the stroke to narrow your selection
  5. Check for a stamped number on your current gas spring (usually the last 2 digits followed by N for Newtons) to determine the force needed

Note: 1 pound equals 4.4482 Newtons. The force is what holds your door or platform open, not the weight of the door.
